A Virginia Opossum is a type of marsupial that live in the United States. Opossums are long furry mammals, that are commonly are considered a nuisance. An Opossum can grow to over a foot long. Part of an Opossum's defense is pretending to be dead, commonly referred to as "Playing Opossum".


Opossums are scavengers, and will eat most things that they find. This includes things that very from Earthworms, to dog food, to roadkill. Eating other animal's food (such as a dog's or cow's) makes them considered a nuisance. Many times, Opossums will cross highways looking for food, and many times will become roadkill because of their slow reactions and movements.
